Upper Hybrid Resonance of Microwaves with a Large Magnetized Plasma Sheet

摘要 Alargemagnetizedplasmasheetwithsizeof60cmx60cmx2cmwasgeneratedbyalinearhollowcathodedischargeundertheconfinementofauniformmagneticfieldgeneratedbyaHelmholtzCoil.Themicrowavetransmissioncharacteristicoftheplasmasheetwasmeasuredfordifferentincidentfrequencies,incaseswiththeelectricfieldpolarizationoftheincidentmicrowaveeitherperpendicularorparalleltothemagneticfield.Inthismeasurement,parametersoftheplasmasheetwerechangedbyvaryingthedischargecurrentandmagneticfieldintensity.Intheexperiment,upperhybridresonancephenomenawereobservedwhentheelectricfieldpolarizationoftheincidentwavewasperpendiculartothemagneticfield.Theseresonancephenomenacannotbefoundinthecaseofparallelpolarizationincidence.Thisresultisconsistentwiththeoreticalconsideration.Accordingtotheresonancecondition,theelectrondensityvaluesattheresonancepointsarecalculatedundervariousexperimentalconditions.Thiskindofresonancephenomenacanbeusedtodevelopaspecificmethodtodiagnosetheelectrondensityofthismagnetizedplasmasheetapparatus.Moreover,itispointedoutthattheoperatingparametersofthelargeplasmasheetinpracticalapplicationsshouldbeselectedtokeepawayfromtheupperhybridresonancepointtopreventsignalsfrompolarizationdistortion.
