Accelerating Role of Clay in Photo-Oxidation of Polypropylene/Clay Multifilament Yarns

摘要 Photo-oxidativedegradationofpolypropylene/claymultifilamentyarnscontainingdifferentamountsofclaywasinvestigated.Thesesamplesandpurepolypropylene(PP)multifilametnswereexposedtolongwavelengthradiations(λ>300nm)underatmosphericconditionofconstanttemperatureandrelativehumidity.Thephoto-oxidativestabilitywasstudiedusingFTIRspectroscopy,tensiletestingandmicroscopy.TheresultsindicatethattheadditionofclayparticlesdecreasesthestabilityofPP/claycompositestophoto-oxidativedegradationaccordingtocomparisonwithpurePP.FromFTIRstudyandtensileproperties,itwasalsofoundthatthemultifilamentswithhigherclayloadingrevealsafasterlossofmechanicalproperties,higherphoto-oxidativeproductformationandmorereductionintheinductiontimeofphotooxidation.Moreover,thecrackformationonsurfaceofirradiatedfilamentscorrespondswelltotheconclusionsintensilepropertiesandFTIRcharacterization.
