Thisstudydevelopedasequentialcouplingfiniteelementproceduretopredictresidualstressesofsteelpipeswithlongitudinalwela\circumferentialweldandspiralweld.Theresultsshowthattheresidualstressinheataffectedzone(HAZ)ishigherthanthatinweldforspiralweldpipe.Forthecircumferentialweldpipeandspiralweldpipe,theresidualstressininnersurfaceishigherthanthatinoutersurface.However,forthespiralweldpipe,theresidualstressininnersurfaceissmallerthanthatinoutersurface.Thehoopresidualstressofcircumferentialweldpipeishigherthanthatoflongitudinalweldpipe,whiletheaxialresidualstressofcircumferentialweldpipeissmallerthanthatoflongitudinalweldpipe.Thehoopstressesforcircumferentialweldpipeandaxialstressforlongitudinalweldpipehaveexceededtheyieldstrengthofbasemetal.Withtheincreaseofhelixangle,thehoopstressdecreaseswhiletheaxialstressincreases.Forthespiralpipe(α=30°to50°),boththehoopstressandaxialstressarerelativelysmall.Thespiralpipe(helixanglerangingfrom30°to50°)ishelpfultoreducestresscorrosioncracking(SCC)anditisrecommendedtomanufacturethesteelpipe.
