Nervefibersareattractedbysuturelessend-to-sidenervecoaptationintotherecipientnerve.Openingawindowintheepineuriumenhancesaxonattractionandmyelination.Theauthorsanalyzethefeaturesofnerverepairbyend-to-sidecoaptation.Theyhighlighttheknownmechanismsofaxonsproutinganddifferenthypothesesofstartupsignals(presenceorabsenceofanepineurialwindow,roleofSchwanncells,signalingfromthedistaltrunk).Theclinicalliteratureisalsopresentedanddifferencesbetweenexperimentalandclinicalapplicationsarepointedout.Theauthorsproposetheirpointofviewandperspectivesderivingfromrecentexperimentalandclinicalexperiences.
