Thehomogeneousnucleationwithsubsequentspontaneouscondensationofwater,pentanol,andethanolvaporsinacarriergasareinvestigatedexperimentallyandtheoreticallyintheexpansionpartofashocktube.TheprecisepressureandMCWmeasurementsgiveadditionalinformationaboutthewetness,sothatthenucleationandcondensationrateswhicharecloselycoupledforstrongerexpansionratesaredetermiedmoreaccurately,Predictionsoftheprincipleoftheminimumofentropyproductionarecomparedwithexperimentsperformedforwater,ethanolandpentanolatdifferentpressures.
