摘要
Itisfoundthatthereisanupper-limitcriticalpowerforself-guidedpropagationofintenselasersinplasmainadditiontothewell-knownlower-limitcriticalpowersetbytherelativisticeffect.Abovethisupper-limitcriticalpower,thelaserpulseexperiencesdefocusingduetoexpulsionoflocalplasmaelectronsbythetransverseponderomotiveforce.Associatedwiththeupper-limitpower,alower-limitcriticalplasmadensityisalsofoundforagivenlaserspotsize,belowwhichself-focusingdoesnotoccurforanylaserpower.Boththeupper-limitpowerandthelower-limitdensityarederivedtheoreticallyandverifiedbytwo-dimensionalparticle-in-cellsimulations.Thepresentstudyprovidesnewguidanceforexperimentaldesigns,whereself-guidedpropagationoflasersisessential.
