摘要
Twenty-fiveyearsago,whenitwasemergedthattheinitialindicationofenvironmentalpollutionandgeologicaldeteriorationresultingfromcoalmining,theyoungXieKechangfocusedhislife-longresearchonthefieldofcoalandchemicalindustries.Andforthelast25years,XieKechanghasnotonlymadesignificantachievementsincleancoalutilizationanditstechnologytransfer,inparticularasanadvisorfortheprovincialpartycommitteeandtheprovincialgovernmentintheirlayingoutofenergy,chemicalandotherheavyindustrialplans,butalso,inhiscapacityasthepresidentofTaiyuanUniversityofTechnologyandprofessorfordoctoralstudents,producedalargenumberofhighcaliberresearchpersonnelinthisfield.OnDec.2,2003,inhisdefensefortheeledionofmembersofChineseAcademyofEngineering(CAE),herespondedemotionally:“Asoneofthescientificandtechnicalworkers,allthatIhavedone,ingoodconscience,istolayagoodfoundationforthesustainabledevelopmentforourposterity.”
