TheRMCtechnologydevelopedbyRIPPhasbeenappliedina1.5Mt/amediumpressurehydrocrackingunitatShanghaiPetrochemicalCompany.TheunitwassuccessfullyputonstreaminSeptember2002.CalibrationoftheperformanceofthecommercialunithasshownthattheRMCtechnologyhashigherhydrogenationactivityandselectivity,andhighqualityproductcanbeobtainedunderlowerreactiontemperature.Theheavynaphthawithlessthan0.5ppmofsulfurand58.5m%potentialaromaticcontentisagoodfeedstockforcatalyticreformingunit.Thedieselwithlessthan0.5ppmofsulfur,6.6m%aromaticsandcetaneratingof56isahigh-gradedieselfuel.Thehydrocrackedtailoilcontainingmorethan14m%hydrogenandmere1.7m%aromaticscouldbeusedasagoodfeedstockforsteamcrackingprocesstoproduceethylene.
