Anorexianervosaischaracterizedbyrefusaltomaintainweightatoraboveaminimallynormalweight(85%ofexpectedweightforageandheight,orbodymassindex(BMI)17.5kg/m^2),orfailuretoexhibittheexpectedweightgainduringgrowth.Thereisoftenassociatedintensefearofgainingweight,preoccupationwithweight,denialofthecurrentlowweightanditsadverseimpactonhealth,andamenorrhoea.
