摘要
Censusdataof2000indicatedthattheChinesepopulationaged65andoverhadaccountedfor7%ofthetotalpopulation.Inurbanareas,inparticular,thatratiowas6.30%andinruralareas,itwas7.35%.Onaverage,Chinahadenteredanagingsociety.Inrecentyears,old-agesupportinruralChinahascaughttheattentionofgovernmentofficialsandscholarsalike.Thisisbecauseruralhouseholdshaveundergonedrastictransformationinsizeandstructureasaresultoftheenforcementofthefamilyplanningpolicy.Coupledwiththeurbanizationprocessandmassivemigrationofrurallaborersintocities,theagingprocessinruralChinahasaccelerated,challengingthetraditionalpatternofold-agesupportinruralChina.
