摘要
HorsetrainsusedtobethechiefmeansoftransportinsouthwestChina'smountainousareas,areasthatwerealmostinaccessiblebecauseofthedifficultterrain.Theyhavelargelydisappearedasmostsuchareasarealreadyservicedbymodernroadsystems.Atbinzhonluo,however,thelasthorsetrainscanstillbefound,theirdriversbeingNus,LisusandTibetans.AsIdiscoveredatcountryfairs,goodsshippedinbyhorsetrainsfromTibetanaremostlybuttertea,ediblefungusandwildorchidplants,andgoodsshippedtoTibetincludedrinks,batteries,saltandinstantnoodles.Forcenturies,horsetrainshavetraversedtheNujiangCanyonortheTibetan-YiCorridorwhich,tobeaccurate,shouldbecalledaneconomicandculturalcorridorlinkingTibetandtherestofChina.
