Transmission spectra of one-dimensional photonic crystals including negative-refractive-index media-中国期刊网

摘要 Weintroduceanewmodelofone-dimensional(1D)photoniccrystalcomposedofalternatelyarrangedRHMandLHMlayerswithpositiveandnegativerefractiveindicesrespectively,forwhichthetransmissionspectraofthemodelarecalculatednumericallywiththetransfermatrixmethod,andtheband-gapstructureandthepolarizationpropertiesareanalyzed.Wefoundthattheintroductionofnegativerefractiveindexlayers(i.e.LHMmediumlayers)givesrisetosomepeculiarband-gapstructureandpolarizationpropertiesasfollows.Firstly,theforbiddenbandsareextremelywideandthetransmissionbandsareverysharpwithoutoscillation;andsecondly,thechangeofincidentanglehasdifferentinfluencesontheforbiddenbandsofTEandTMmodes.FortheTMmode,theforbiddenbandwidthdecreasessubstantiallyandfinallyvanishes,andfortheTEmodewithcentralwavelength,thetotalreflectionhappensatanyincidentangle.
