Geochemical Forms of Phosphorus in Sediments of Three Large, Shallow Lakes of China

摘要 Asequentialextractionmethodforthefractionationofphosphorus(P)inlakesedimentswasusedtoanalyzephosphorusfractionsofsedimentstakenfromthreelarge,shallow,eutrophicfreshwaterlakesofChina-TaihuLake,ChaohuLake,andLongganLake.AllthreelakesarelocatedinthelowerreachesoftheChangjiangRiver(YangtzeRiver).InTaihuLakeandChaohuLake,algaebloomsoccurredeveryyear,whileLongganLakewasamacrophyte-dominatedlake.Resultsshowedthatexchangeablephosphorusfractionsweremuchhigherintheeutrophiclakesedimentsthaninthemacrophyte-flourishinglakesediment.Also,theratioofFe:Pinthesedimentsofthealgae-predominantlakeswasgenerallymuchlowerthanthatinthemacrophyte-predominantlakes.Thus,thegeochemicalfractionsofphosphorusinsedimentshadacloserrelationshipwiththetypeofaquaticvegetation.
