IMPACTS OF DIFFERENT KINDS OF ENSO ON LANDFALLING TROPICAL CYCLONES IN CHINA

摘要 Interannualvariabilityoflandfallingtropicalcyclones(TCs)inChinaduring1960-2010isinvestigated.Byusingthemethodofpartialleastsquaresregression(PLS-regression),canonicalENSOandENSOModokiareidentifiedtobethefactorsthatcontributetotheinterannualvariabilityoflandfallingTCs.ElNioModokiyearsareassociatedwithagreater-than-averagefrequencyoflandfallingTCsinChina,butreversedincanonicalElNioyears.SignificantdifferenceingenesislocationsoflandfallingTCsinChinaforthetwokindsofElNiophasesoccursdominantlyinthenortherntropicalwesternNorthPacific(WNP).Thepatternsoflow-levelcirculationanomaliesandoutgoinglongwaveradiation(OLR)anomaliesassociatedwithlandfallingTCgenesiswithdifferenttypesofElNiophasesareexamined.DuringcanonicalElNioyears,abroadzonalbandofpositiveOLRanomaliesdominatesthetropicalWNP,whilethecirculationanomaliesexhibitameridionallysymmetricaldipolepatternwithananticyclonicanomalyinthesubtropicsandacyclonicanomalynearthetropics.InElNioModokiyears,avastregionofnegativeOLRanomalies,roughlytothesouthof25°Nwithastronglarge-scalecyclonicanomalyoverthetropicalWNP,providesamorefavorableconditionforlandfallingTCgenesiscomparedtoitscounterpartduringcanonicalElNioyears.FormorelandfallingTCsformedinthenortherntropicalWNPinElNioModokiyears,therearemoreTCsmakinglandfallonthenortherncoastofChinainElNioModokiyearsthanincanonicalElNioyears.ThenumberoflandfallingTCsisslightlyabovenormalincanonicalLaNiayears.EnhancedconvectionisfoundintheSouthChinaSea(SCS)andthewestofthetropicalWNP,whichresultsinlandfallingTCsformingmorewestwardincanonicalLaNiayears.DuringLaNiaModokiyears,thelandfallingTCfrequencyarebelownormal,owingtoanunfavorableconditionforTCgenesispersistinginabroadzonalbandfrom5°Nto25°N.SincethewesternNorthPacificsubtropicalhi
