Plasmonically induced transparency in double-layered graphene nanoribbons

Near-fleldcoupledplasmonicsystemsgenerallyachieveplasmonicallyinducedtransparency(PIT)usingonlyone-waybright-darkmodecoupling.However,itischallengingtorealizesuchwell-designeddevices,mainlybecausetheydependsignificantlyonthepolarizationdirection.Weexploitsurfaceplasmonssup-portedbytwocrossedlayersofgraphenenanoribbons(GNRs)toachievedynamicallytunablePIT,whereeachGNRoperatesasboththebrightanddarkmodessimultaneously.TheproposedPITcanresultfromeitherone-waybright-darkmodeinteractionsorbidirectionalbright-brightandbright-darkmodehybrid-izedcouplingwhenthepolarizationisperpendicular/paralleloratanangletotheGNRs,respectively.Additionally,identicalribbonwidthsyieldpolarization-insensitivesingle-windowPIT,whereasdifferentribbonwidthsproducepolarization-dependentdouble-windowPIT.Weexaminetheproposedtechniqueusingplasmonwavefunctionsandthetransfermatrixmethod;analyticalandnumericalresultsshowex-cellentagreement.ThisstudycanprovidephysicalinsightintothePITcouplingmechanismsandadvancetheanulicabilitvandversatilityofPIT-basedsensingplatformsandotheractivedevices.
