简介:Hydrogelcanswelltomanytimesofitsdryvolume,resultinginlargedeformationwhichisvitalforitsfunction.Theswellingprocessisregulatedbymanyphysicalandchemicalmechanisms,andcan,tosomeextent,befairlydescribedbytheporoelasticitytheory.Implementationoftheporoelasticitytheoryintheframeworkoffniteelementmethodwouldaidthedesignandoptimizationofhydrogel-basedsoftdevices.Choosingchemicalpotentialanddisplacementastwofeldvariables,wepresenttheimplementationofporoelasticitytailoredforhydrogelswellingdynamics,detailthenormalizationofphysicalparametersandthetreatmentofboundaryconditions.Severalexamplesarepresentedtodemonstratethefeasibilityandcorrectnessoftheproposedstrategy.
