  • 简介:Thedynamicresponseofastrain-softeningbeamsubjectedtoatransverseimpulsiveonitstipisinvestigated.Asofteningmoment-curvaturerelationisassumedforthebeamandaclosedformsolutionisobtainedforaspecialkindofload,whichshowsthatthereexistsasofteningregioninthebeamandthisre-gionpropagatesalongthebeam.Thisresultindicatesthat,exceptforthepossiblediscretesofteningpointswithrotationdiscontinuitycausedbythedeformationlocalization,theexistenceofthesofteningregionanditstravellingalongthebeamaretheessentialfeaturesofthedynamicresponseofastrain-softeningbeam.Theresultsalsoshowthatthefailureofthebeamshouldtakeplaceunderaspecialloadandthecriticalconditiononwhichthedynamicfailureoccursisgiven.

  • 简介:Anapproximatemethodfordescribingtheplastichardening-softeningbehaviourofcircularpipessubjectedtopurebendingispresented.Theo-reticalestimationbasedontheuniformovalizationmodelandlocalcollapsemodelproposedinthepaperisincorporatedtogiveseveralsimpleformulationswithrea-sonableaccuracyfordeterminingtherelationshipbetweenbendingmoment(M)andcurvature(k)inthepurelybendedpipes.Attentionisfocusedonthecriticalcur-vatureassociatedwithmaximumresistantmomentandthemaximumchangeintheoriginaldiameterbeforetheendofuniformovalizationstageaswellasthelocalcollapsebehaviour.Somecomparisonsbetweenanalyticalresultsandexperimentalresultsaremadeinordertoexaminethetheory.
