简介：Objective:Noninvasivediffusion-weightedmagneticresonanceimaging(DWI)isawell-studiedMRimagingtechniqueforquantifyingwaterdiffusionespeciallyintumorarea.Thecorrelationbetweenapparentdiffusioncoefficient(ADC)valueandapoptosisorproliferationisnotclearbynow.ThisstudyaimedtoinvestigatewhetherDWI-ADCvaluecouldbeusedasanimagingmarkerrelatedwithpathologicindexesoftumors.Methods:Atotalof30Balb/cmicewithHT29colorectalcarcinomaweresubjectedtoDWIandhistologicanalysis.ThepercentageofADCchangesandtheapoptoticandproliferatingindexeswerecalculatedatpredefinedtimepoints.Kolmogorov-SmirnovdistanceswereconsideredtodeterminewhetherthepercentageofADCchanges,andtheapoptoticandproliferatingindexeswerenormallydistributed.Anindependent-samplest-testwasusedtoanalyzethedifferencebetweenapoptoticandproliferatingindexesinthetwogroups.Results:Therewasastatisticallysignificantdifferenceinproliferatingindexbetweentheradiotherapyandcontrolgroups(meanproliferatingindex:49.27%vs.83.09%),andtherewasastatisticallysignificantdifferenceinapoptoticindexbetweenthetwogroups(meanapoptoticindex:37.7%vs.2.71%).AsignificantpositivecorrelationwasfoundbetweenthepercentageofADCchangesoftheviabletissueandapoptoticindex.Pearson'scorrelationcoefficientwas0.655(P=0.015).AsignificantnegativecorrelationwasfoundbetweenthepercentageofADCchangesoftheviabletissueandki-67proliferationindex.Pearson'scorrelationcoefficientwas0.734(P<0.001).Conclusions:OurresultssuggestthatADCvaluemaybeusedinmeasurementofcellapoptoticandproliferatingindexesincolorectalcarcinoma.

简介：AIM:Tocomparetheanteriorandposteriorcornealparametersbeforeandaftercollagencross-linkingtherapyforkeratoconus.METHODS:Collagencross-linkingwasperformedin31eyesof31keratoconuspatients(meanage30.6±8.9y).Priortotreatmentandanaverage7moaftertherapy,ScheimpfluganalysiswasperformedusingPentacamHR.Inadditiontocornealthicknessassessments,cornealradius,elevation,andaberrometricmeasurementswereperformedbothonanteriorandposteriorcornealsurfaces.Dataobtainedbeforeandaftersurgerywerestatisticallyanalyzed.RESULTS:Intermsofhorizontalandverticalcornealradius,andcentralcornealthicknessnodeviationswereobservedanaverage7moafteroperation.Cornealhigherorderaberrationshowednodifferenceneitheronanteriornoronposteriorcornealsurfaces.Duringfollow-upperiod,nosignificantdeviationwasdetectedregardingelevationvaluesobtainedbymeasurementinmmunitsbetweenthe3.0-8.0mm-zones.CONCLUSION:Cornealstabilizationcouldbeobservedintermsofanteriorandposteriorcornealsurfaces,elevationandhigherorderaberrationvalues7moaftercollagencross-linkingtherapyforkeratoconus.

简介：AIM:Toevaluatewhetherglaucomatousvisualfielddefectparticularlythepatternstandarddeviation(PSD)ofHumphreyvisualfieldcouldbeassociatedwithvisualevokedpotential(VEP)parametersofpatientshavingprimaryopenangleglaucoma(POAG).METHODS:VisualfieldbyHumphreyperimetryandsimultaneousrecordingsofpatternreversalvisualevokedpotential(PRVEP)wereassessedin100patientswithPOAG.ThestimulusconfigurationforVEPrecordingsconsistedofthetransientpatternreversalmethodinwhichablackandwhitecheckerboardpatternwasgenerated(fullfield)anddisplayedonVEPmonitor(colour14')byanelectronicpatternregeneratorinbuiltinanevokedpotentialrecorder(RMSEMGEPMARKII).RESULTS:Theresultsofourstudyindicatethatthereisahighlysignificant(P<0.001)negativecorrelationofP100amplitudeandastatisticallysignificant(P<0.05)positivecorrelationofN70latency,P100latencyandN155latencywiththePSDofHumphreyvisualfieldinthesubjectsofPOAGinvariousagegroupsasevaluatedbyStudent’st-test.CONCLUSION:ProlongationofVEPlatenciesweremirroredbyacorrespondingincreaseofPSDvalues.Conversely,asPSDincreasesthemagnitudeofVEPexcursionswerefoundtobediminished.
