简介:Bothmorphologicalcharactersandaportionofof28SrDNAsequenceswereusedtoidentifyingTomicusspecies.Thespecimenswereclassedintogroupswiththefollowingcharacters:1)granulesorpuncturesoninterstria2onthedeclivityoftheelytra;2)lengthoftheelytralinterstrialhairsandhairsarisingfrompunctures;3)arrangementofpronotalpuncturesandhairs.Thesecharacterscouldbeclearlyexaminedunderabinocularmicroscopeat30×magnificationandtheywereapplicableandvaluablefortheforestentomologiststoidentifyTomicusspecies.Thephylogenetictreeestablishedwithdifferencein28SrDNAsequenceofD2regionrevealedthatthespecimensofeachgroupidentifiedbymorphologicalcharacterswerealsogroupedtogether.Thegeneticdistancesofintra-species,inter-speciesandinter-genuswerenotoverlapped.Geneticdivergenceof28SrDNAwasalsousefulforidentifyingTomicusspecies.

简介:FurnitureofHongmu,creamofChineseculture,hasalonghistoryandenjoysgreatpopularityforitsclassicappearanceandelegantdisposition.Thetraditionalmethodoftheidentificationistoevaluatethemacroformandanatomicalfeatures.Inthispaper,anewmethodbasedonthedifferencesamongthechemicalcharacteristicsofbiologicalmetabolitesofsamplesisdeveloped.Intheresearch,highperformanceliquidchromatography(HPLC)fingerprintswereemployedtodiscriminatefourspeciesofHongmu,includingPterocarpusindicus,Pterocarpusmacarocarpus,Dalbergiamelanoxylon,andDalbergialouvelii.Theresultsshowedthat,accordingtotheretentiontimeandrelativepeakareaofdifferentcomponentsinwoodextracts,thedistinctioncanbeeasilymadebetweendifferentspecies.BasedontheHPLCfingerprints,similaritiesbetweensampleswereevaluatedbycorrelationcoefficients.Theresultsweregreaterthan0.81betweenthesamespecies,andlessthan0.21betweendifferentspecies,whichshowedweakcorrelationbetweendifferentspecies.Inordertoestimatetheoverallfeaturesofthefingerprints,hierarchicalclusteringandprincipalcomponentanalysis(PCA)wereusedandtheresultsshowedpronouncedclusteringeffectamongthesamespecies.TheinvestigationindicatedthatpatternrecognitioncouldaccuratelyreflectthesignificantdifferencesbetweendifferentspeciesofHongmu,andcanbeusedasareferenceforqualitycontrol.

简介:Forestmanagementinseveralborealcountriesisstronglyfocusedonconifersbecausetheyaremoreproductive,thetechnicalqualityoftheirstemsisbetter,andtheirwoodfibersarelongerascomparedtobroadleaves.Favoringconifersinforestmanagementleadstosimpleforeststructureswithlowresilienceanddiversity.Suchforestsareriskyinthefaceofclimatechangeandfluctuatingtimberprices.ClimatechangeincreasesthevitalityofmanyforestpestsandpathogenssuchasHeterobasidionspp.andIpstypographusL.whichattackmainlyspruce.Winddamagesarealsoincreasingbecauseofashorterperiodoffrozensoiltoprovideafirmanchorageagainststorms.Wind-throwntreesserveasstartingpointsforbarkbeetleoutbreaks.Increasingtheproportionofbroadleavedspeciesmightalleviatesomeoftheseproblems.Thisstudypredictsthelong-term(150years)consequencesofcurrentconifer-orientedforestmanagementintwoforestareas,andcomparedthismanagementwithsilviculturalstrategiesthatpromotemixedforestsandbroadleavedspecies.Theresultsshowthat,intheabsenceofdamages,conifer-orientedforestrywouldleadto5-10%highertimberyieldsandcarbonsequestration.Thesomewhatlowercarbonsequestrationofbroadleavedforestswascounteractedbytheirhigheralbedo(reflectance).Mixedandbroadleafforestswerebetterprovidersofrecreationalamenities.Speciesdiversitywasmuchhigherinmixedstandandbroadleaf-orientedsilvicultureatstandandforestlevels.Theanalysisindicatesthatconifer-orientedforestmanagementproducesrathersmallanduncertaineconomicbenefitsatahighcostinresilienceanddiversity.

简介:Remotesensingimagesshowaverypromisingperspectivefordistinguishingtreespecies,especiallythosewiththeveryhighresolutionrangingfrom1to4m.However,thetraditionalmethodologyforclassifyinglandcovertypes,solelydependingonspectralfeatures,whiletextureandotherspatialinformationareneglected,hastheweaknesssuchasinadequatelyutilizationofinformation,lowaccuraciesofclassification,etc.Consideringtothetexturedifferencesamongforestspecies,itismoreimportantforspatialinformationdescriptionofhigh-resolutionremotesensingimagetoimprovetheprecisionoftexturalfeatureschoosing.Inthisstudy,thefactorstoinfluencetheninetexturalfeatureschoosingwereanalyzedandtheresultsshowedthatthemovingwindowsizewasthemainfactortoaffecttheobtainingprocessesoftexturalfeaturesbasedonthegraylevelco-occurrencematrix(GLCM)method,andtheimagerywasthenclassifiedcombiningthemaximumlikelihoodclassification(MLC)methodwiththeoriginalspectralvaluesandtexturefeatures.First,thisstudyutilizedacorrelationanalysisoftheimagesfromaprincipalcomponentanalysis.Second,throughmultipleinformationsources,includingtextualfeaturesderivedfromthedata.Forthehigh-resolutionremotesensingimage,themostpropermovingwindowsizewasdeterminedfrom3×3to31×31.Classificationofthemajortreespeciesthroughoutthestudyarea(theSunYat-SenMausoleuminNanjing)wasundertakenusingtheMLC.Third,toaidforestresearch,classificationaccuracywasimprovedusingtheGLCM.Accordingtocorrelationsamongtexturesandrichnessofthedata,GLCMprovidedthebestwindowsizeandtexturalparameters.Resultsindicatedthatthetexturecharacteristicswereaddinthespectralcharacteristicstoimprovetheprecisionoftheresultsoftheclassification,19×19windowforbestwindow.Thetotalprecisioncanreach66.3226%,Kappacoefficientis0.5840.Eachtreespecieshasgreatlyimprovedaccuraciesoftheclassification.Bythecal
