  • 简介:AbstractImportance:Vitamin A (or retinol) has considerable antioxidative and anti-inflammatory attributes and it may have protective effects on the respiratory health of patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). This issue, however, remains controversial.Objective:The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between serum retinol levels (SRL) and force expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1) in patients with CF.Methods:All patients with pancreatic insufficiency attending the CF Department of "Agia Sofia" Children’s Hospital in Athens, Greece, aged 6 to 19 years during the 2012-2016 period, who could perform spirometry effectively, were included in the study. The impact of SRL on FEV1 was examined longitudinally and analyzed with generalized estimating equations.Results:The study included 231 patients and 851 SRL measurements were performed. In 25 (3.2%) cases the SRL were below the 5th percentile of reference distribution; none was above the 95th percentile. The analysis showed that SRL was positively correlated with the FEV1 (P < 0.001).Interpretation:In this sample of children and adolescents with CF, vitamin A deficiency was rare. Our results suggest a positive relationship between SRL and FEV1.

  • 简介:AbstractRespiratory health in the general population declines regardless of the presence of pulmonary diseases. Oxidative stress has been implicated as one of the mechanisms involved in respiratory dysfunction. This review was to evaluate studies that relate oxidative stress factors with pulmonary function among the general population without prior respiratory illnesses. The search yielded 54 citations. Twenty-one studies qualified for incorporation in this review. Owing to the heterogeneity of the review, studies were discussed based on identified oxidative stress factors responsible for pulmonary dysfunction. Oxidative stress biomarkers, including gene polymorphisms of nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2, heme oxygenase 1, glutathione S transferase, superoxide dismutase, and lipid peroxidation products were involved in lung function decline. In addition, the antioxidant status of individuals in reference to dietary antioxidant intake and exposure to environmental pollutants affected oxidative stress and pulmonary function, as indicated by forced expired volume in one second, forced vital capacity, and forced expiratory flow at 25%-75%. This review indicated that oxidative stress is implicated in the gradual decline of lung function among the general population, and gene polymorphism along the antioxidant defense line and/or their interaction with air pollutants reduce lung function. Different polymorphic forms among individuals explain why the rate of lung function decline differs among people. Dietary antioxidants have respiratory health benefits in antioxidant gene polymorphic forms. Therefore, the genetic composition of an individual may be considered for monitoring and identifying people at risk of respiratory illnesses.

  • 简介:摘要:s-function是一种描述动态系统的计算机语言,支持C语言编写,可以将已有的软件代码用文本方式输入,实现了代码移植和验证,非常适合复杂动态系统的数学描述,并且在仿真过程中可以对仿真进行更精确的控制。目前,实际风电变流器产品中,每台产品都需要在出厂时,都需要经过严格的测试,随着对产品不同功能的需求变化,采用的测试软件需要不断的优化和改进,所以,对软件算法的验证和升级需要仿真给予可靠的支持。本文利用在Simulink中搭建的三相全桥逆变器模型与S-Function编写的算法模块相结合,针对并网整流器运行工况进行软件仿真,简单、有效地验证了测试软件算法的正确性。

  • 简介:AbstractSkeletal muscle plays an essential role in generating the mechanical force necessary to support the movement of our body and daily exercise. Compared with cardiac and smooth muscle, in mammals, skeletal muscle exhibits remarkable regenerative capacity in response to damage. Muscle stem cells, also known as satellite cells, directly contribute to regeneration. Here, we review primary and secondary myogenesis processes with a focus on muscle stem cells, as well as the function and regulation of muscle stem cells in adult muscle regeneration in mammals.

  • 简介:AbstractBackground:Thyroid dysfunction is associated with cardiovascular diseases. However, the role of thyroid function in lipid metabolism remains partly unknown. The present study aimed to investigate the causal association between thyroid function and serum lipid metabolism via a genetic analysis termed Mendelian randomization (MR).Methods:The MR approach uses a genetic variant as the instrumental variable in epidemiological studies to mimic a randomized controlled trial. A two-sample MR was performed to assess the causal association, using summary statistics from the Atrial Fibrillation Genetics Consortium (n = 537,409) and the Global Lipids Genetics Consortium (n = 188,577). The clinical measures of thyroid function include thyrotropin (TSH), free triiodothyronine (FT3) and free thyroxine (FT4) levels, FT3:FT4 ratio and concentration of thyroid peroxidase antibodies (TPOAb). The serum lipid metabolism traits include total cholesterol (TC) and triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein, and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) levels. The MR estimate and MR inverse variance-weighted method were used to assess the association between thyroid function and serum lipid metabolism.Results:The results demonstrated that increased TSH levels were significantly associated with higher TC (β = 0.052, P = 0.002) and LDL (β = 0.041, P = 0.018) levels. In addition, the FT3:FT4 ratio was significantly associated with TC (β = 0.240, P = 0.033) and LDL (β = 0.025, P = 0.027) levels. However, no significant differences were observed between genetically predicted FT4 and TPOAb and serum lipids.Conclusion:Taken together, the results of the present study suggest an association between thyroid function and serum lipid metabolism, highlighting the importance of the pituitary-thyroid-cardiac axis in dyslipidemia susceptibility.

  • 简介:AbstractObjective:Chinese rhubarb is a promising Chinese medicine for the promotion of gastrointestinal function. This study was conducted to investigate the safety and efficacy of Chinese rhubarb administered via ultrasound delivery in promoting the early recovery of gastrointestinal function after gastrectomy.Methods:In this prospective randomized controlled study, 100 patients who were scheduled to undergo total or subtotal gastrectomy in Changzhi People’s Hospital or Subei People’s Hospital from August 2017 to January 2018 were recruited. These patients were randomly assigned into two equal groups before surgery: 50 in the experimental (Chinese rhubarb) group, and 50 in the control (routine nursing) group. After surgery, time to flatus, bowel movement, clear liquid diet, and removal of nasogastric tube were recorded and analyzed. In addition, postoperative pain, postoperative bowel movement-related complications, and postoperative hospital stay duration were also recorded and analyzed. The study was approved by The protocol was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Changzhi People’s Hospital and Subei People’s Hospital on July 1, 2017 and registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry on December 17, 2018 (registration number: ChiCTR1800020143).Results:Time to flatus (control group 85.68±22.00 hours vs experimental group 73.06±23.42 hours; P=0.007), bowel movement (5.52±1.56 vs 4.40±1.21 days; P<0.001), clear liquid diet (6.72±1.16 vs 6.22±1.28 days; P=0.044), and removal of nasogastric tube (6.30±1.52 vs 5.65±1.58 days; P=0.044) were significantly shorter in the experimental group compared with the control group, as was the postoperative hospital stay duration (14.30±3.46 vs 12.86±1.36 days; P=0.006). In addition, better pain relief (P=0.003) and a lower incidence of postoperative bowel movement-related complications (6 vs 21; P=0.001) were noted in the experimental group.Conclusion:Ultrasound delivery of Chinese rhubarb is useful to promote the early recovery of gastrointestinal function after gastrectomy.

  • 简介:摘要:车辆段是城市轨道交通的必需设施,但因单一的生产性功能,其大规模的占地、封闭的空间形式、超长的生硬界面以及交通的不可穿越性,对城市空间造成了严重割裂的影响,而基于提高土地利用效率和TOD理念的综合开发是消解这种割裂的积极手段。通过对一系列典型案例的分析,以城市公共功能为主的综合开发可以有效地解决这一问题,而多元的功能构成、开放的空间格局、友好的界面处理、畅顺的交通联系是车辆段综合开发的核心理念。这些理念被运用于深圳地铁七号线深云车辆段综合开发的规划设计实践中,取得了良好的效果,验证了车辆段综合开发系统与城市的有机衔接,是实现自身价值的重要体现,更是城市基础设施有机融入城市大环境的决定性因素。
