  • 简介:Usingruralsurveydatafortheyear2009,weprovideevidenceofworkchoicesofrurallaborersinecologicallyvulnerableareasinNorthChina,andmodelthesechoicesasafunctionofcharacteristicsofindividuals,households,andlandendowments.Thefindingsreveallargedifferencesbetweenmalesandfemales,andbetweennon-farmemploymentandpart-timefarmingengagementLandscarcityisstillanimportantdrivingfactorinnon-farmingparticipationofrurallaborersinthestudyarea;andinthecurrentcaseoflandproductivityandthetotalamountofland,therearestillsurplusrurallaborforcesinthestudyarea.Diversificationoflivelihoodreducesthepressureonland,thusfacilitatingecosystemconservation.So,thepaperconcludeswiththeargumentthatestablishingcoordinationmechanismsamongnon-farmemploymentofrurallaborers,agriculturalproduction,andrestorationofecosystemsareessentialformitigatingtheconflictsofecologicalsecurity,agriculturalproduction,andruraldevelopmentinmisarea.

  • 简介:Thispaperpresentsanoveltimedelayestimation(TDE)methodusingtheconceptofentropy.Therelativedelayisestimatedbyminimizingtheestimatedjointentropyofmultiplesensoroutputsignals.Whenestimatingtheentropy,theinformationaboutthepriordistributionofthesourcesignalisnotrequired.Instead,theParzenwindowestimatorisemployedtoestimatethedensityfunctionofthesourcesignalfrommultiplesensoroutputsignals.Meanwhile,basedontheParzenwindowestimator,theRenyi’squadraticentropy(RQE)isincorporatedtoeffectivelyandefficientlyestimatethehigh-dimensionaljointentropyofthemultichanneloutputs.Furthermore,amodifiedformofthejointentropyforembeddinginformationaboutreverberation(multipathreflections)forspeechsignalsisintroducedtoenhancetheestimator’srobustnessagainstreverberation.

  • 简介:Thispaperproposesanewfacialbeautificationmethodusingfacialrejuvenationbasedontheageevolution.Traditionalfacialbeautificationmethodsonlyfocusonthecolorofskinanddeformationanddothetransformationbasedonanexperimentalstandardofbeauty.Ourmethodachievesthebeautyeffectbymakingfacialimagelooksyounger,whichisdifferentfromtraditionalmethodsandismorereasonablethanthem.Firstly,wedecomposetheimageintodifferentlayersandgetadetaillayer.Secondly,wegetanage-relatedparameter:thestandarddeviationoftheGaussiandistributionthatthedetaillayerfollows,andthesupportvectormachine(SVM)regressionisusedtofitafunctionabouttheageandthestandarddeviation.Thirdly,weusethisfunctiontoestimatetheageofinputimageandgenerateanewdetaillayerwithanewstandarddeviationwhichiscalculatedbydecreasingtheage.Lastly,wecombinetheoriginallayersandthenewdetaillayertogetanewfaceimage.Experimentalresultsshowthatthisalgorithmcanmakefacialimagebecomemorebeautifulbyfacialrejuvenation.Theproposedmethodopensupanewwayaboutfacialbeautification,andtherearegreatpotentialsforapplications.

  • 简介:TheHongKongObservatory(HKO)provideslow-levelturbulencealertingservicefortheHongKongInternationalAirport(HKIA)throughthewindshearandturbulencewarningsystem(WTWS).IntheWTWS,turbulenceintensitiesalongtheflightpathsoftheairportareestimatedbaseduponcorrelationequationsestablishedbetweenthesurfaceanemometerdataandtheturbulencedatafromresearchaircraftbeforetheopeningoftheairport.Theresearchaircraftdataarenotavailableonday-to-daybasis.Theremotesensingmeteorologicalinstruments,suchastheDopplerlightdetectionandranging(LIDAR)andradar,maybeusedtoprovidedirectmeasurementsofturbulenceintensitiesovertherunwaycorridors.TheperformancesofLIDAR-andradar-basedturbulenceintensitydataarestudiedinthispaperbasedonactualturbulenceintensitymeasurementsmadeon423commercialjetsforatypicalcaseofterrain-inducedturbulenceinassociationwithatyphoon.Itturnsoutthat,withthetuningoftherelativeoperatingcharacteristic(ROC)curvebetweenhitrateandfalsealarmrate,theLIDAR-basedturbulenceintensitymeasurementperformsbetterthantheanemometer-basedestimationofWTWSforturbulenceintensityatmoderatelevelorabove.Ontheotherhand,theradar-basedmeasurementdoesnotperformaswellwhencomparedwithWTWS.BycombiningLIDAR-andradar-basedmeasurements,theperformanceisslightlybetterthanWTWS,mainlyasaresultofcontributionfromLIDAR-basedmeasurement.Asaresult,theLIDAR-basedturbulenceintensitymeasurementcouldbeusedtoreplaceanemometer-basedestimatefornon-rainyweatherconditions.Furtherenhancementsofradar-basedturbulenceintensitymeasurementinrainwouldbenecessary.

  • 简介:Alotof3Dshapedescriptorsfor3Dshaperetrievalhavebeenpresentedsofar.Thispaperproposesanewmechanism,whichemploysseveralexistingglobalandlocal3Dshapedescriptorsasinput.Withthesparsetheory,somedescriptorswhichplaythemostimportantroleinmeasuringsimilaritybetweenquerymodelandthemodelinthedatasetareselectedautomaticallyandanaffinitymatrixisconstructed.Spectralclusteringmethodcanbeimplementedtothisaffinitymatrix.Spectralembeddingofthisaffinitymatrixcanbeappliedtoretrieval,whichintegratingalmostalltheadvantagesofselecteddescriptors.Inordertoverifytheperformanceofourapproach,weperformexperimentalcomparisonsonPrincetonShapeBenchmarkdatabase.Testresultsshowthatourmethodisapose-oblivious,efficientandrobustnessmethodforeithercompleteorincompletemodels.
