  • 简介:Integratedmulti-trophicaquaculture(IMTA)hasbeenproposedasaconceptthatcombinesthecultivationoffedaquaculturespecies(e.g.,finfish/shrimp)withextractiveaquaculturespecies(e.g.,shellfish/seaweed).Inseaweed-basedintegratedaquaculture,seaweedshavethecapacitytoreducetheenvironmentalimpactofnitrogen-richeffluentsoncoastalecosystems.Thus,selectionofoptimalspeciesforsuchaquacultureisofgreatimportance.Thepresentstudyaimedtodevelopaseaweedspecies-selectionindexforselectingsuitablespeciesinseaweed-basedintegratedaquaculturesystem.Theindexwassynthesizedusingavailableliterature-basedinformation,referencedata,andphysiologicalseaweedexperimentstoidentifyandprioritizethedesiredspecies.Undariapinnatifida,PorphyrayezoensisandUlvacompressascoredthehighestaccordingtoaseaweed-basedintegratedaquaculturesuitabilityindex(SASI).Seaweedspecieswiththehighestscoreswereadjudgedtofittheintegratedaquaculturesystems.Despitetheapplicationofthismodellimitedbylocalaquacultureenvironment,itisconsideredtobeausefultoolforselectingseaweedspeciesinIMTA.

  • 简介:Appropriatepathogenicbacteriawereisolatedfromdiseased(ordead)flounder(ParalichthysolivaceusL)occurringinamariculturefarmsofQinhuangdao,whichalldiseasedfishesexpressedbacterialseptieaemia.Thephenotypicinformationofthe12purecultureswasstudiedextensively,includingmorphologicalcharacteristics,colonycharacteristicsindifferentmedia,physiologicalandbiochemicalcharacteristics,andthemolefractionG+CratiooftheDNAforrepresentativestrain.TheresultsshowthattheisolatesbelongtoanewspeciesofVibrio,andaredesignatedasVibrioqinhuangdaorasp.nov.bytheareafromwhichthediseasedfloundersarecollected(Qinhuangdao)basedonitsbiologicalpropertiesfollowingRulesofInternationalCodeofNomenclatureofBacteria.Atthesametime,studiesontheserumhomologyofisolates,andpathogenicityofisolateswereconductedbyexperimentalinfection.Theresultsshowthatalltheisolatesareofserologicsimilarity,andtheisolateshavestrongpathogenicitytoflounder.ThestudiescanextensivelyreflectthemainbiologicalpropertiesofthisnewspeciesofVibrio.

  • 简介:Laurenciananhaiensesp.nov.(Rhodomelaceae,Rhodophyta)isdescribedfromHainanandGuangdongProvinces,China.Thenewspeciesclearlydisplaysoneofthedefiningfeaturesofthegenus,viz.fourperiaxialcellspervegetativeaxialsegment.Itdiffersfromothercloselyrelatedspeciesinhavingacombinationoffeaturessuchastereteaxesfromabasalsystemcomposedofaprimarydiscoidholdfastandasecondaryattachmenttogiverisetomanyshortrhizoids,branchingoppositelyandalternately,irregularlytristichousorsubverticillatelypolystichous,havingmorecurvebrancheswithverysparse,adventitiousultimatebranchlets,non-projectingsuperficialcorticalcellsattheapicesofultimatebranchlets,presenceoflongitudinallyorientedsecondarypit-connectionsbetweencontiguoussuperficialcorticalcells,absenceoflenticularthickeningsinthewallsofmedullarycells,parallelarrangementoftetrasporangiaalongtheaxisofstichidia,andpresenceofintercellularspacesbetweenmedullarycells.

  • 简介:ZooplanktonsurveyswerecarriedoutonNovember2-3andDecember8-10,2001at12stationsintheNanWanBayofTaiwan,China.Altogether92quantitativezooplanktonsampleswerecollectedfromsubsurfacewaterandbottomwaterlayerswithtwoconicalplanktonnets(180cminlength,45cminopeningdiameter,333μmand200μminmeshsize).Atotalof31speciesofSiphonophoreswereidentified,amongthem7speciesarenewrecordsinthewatersaroundTaiwanIsland,ofwhichRocaceacymbiformisisanewrecordinChina.DominatedbyChelophyesappendiculata,Bassiabassensis,Diphyesbojani,Diphyesdispar,AbylopsiseschscholtziandChelophyescontorta,thesespeciesaccountedforover76%and63%ofthetotalabundanceinNovemberandDecember.ThespeciesnumberandSiphonophoresabundanceinDecember(25species,1.99inds/m3)weremorethanthoseinNovember(19species,0.438inds/m3),andtheyweremoreinthesurfacewaterlayerthaninthebottomlayeratmostsamplingstations.Inearlywinter,theoffshorehighsalinitywatermasswasamainfactorinfluencingthedistribution.ThesamplingefficiencyfortwoplanktonnetsisdiscussedandtheseasonalvariationofspeciesnumberandabundanceintheNanWanBayiscomparedwiththatintheneighboringwaters.

  • 简介:Horizontalandverticaldistributionsofδ18Oandδ13Cwereinvestigatedinshellsoffourplanktonicforaminiferalspecies,Globigerinoidesruber,Globigerinoidessacculifer,PulleniatinaobliquiloculataandNeogloboquedrinadutertrei,fromatotalof62core-topsedimentsamplesfromtheIndonesianthroughflowregion.Resultswerecomparedtomodernhydrologicconditionsinordertoexplorepotentialofproxiesinreconstructingfluvialdischargeandupperoceanwatercolumncharacteristicsinthisregion.Ourresultsshowthat,intheMakassarStrait,bothofdepletedδ18Oandδ13Cofthesefourspecieswerelinkedtofreshwaterinput.IntheBaliSea,however,depletedδ18Oandδ13Cforthesespeciesmaybeduetodifferentreasons.Depletedδ18Owasaresultoffreshwaterinputandaswellinfluencedbyalong-shorecurrentswhiledepletedδ13CwasmorelikelyduetotheJava-Sumatraupwelling.Comparisonofshellδ18OrecordsandhydrographicdataofWorldOceanAtlas2005suggeststhatG.ruberandG.sacculifercalcifywithinthemixed-layer,respectivelyat0–50mand20–75mwaterdepth,andP.obliquiloculataandN.dutertreiwithintheupperthermocline,bothat75–125mwaterdepth.N.dutertreicalcifiesatslightlydeeperwaterdepththanP.obliquiloculatadoes.Ingeneral,δ13CvaluesofbothG.ruberandG.sacculiferarelargerthanthoseofP.obliquiloculataandN.dutertreiatallsites,possiblyrelatedtodepthhabitatsofthesespeciesandverticaldistributionofnutrientsintheIndonesianthroughflowregion.
