  • 简介:BasedonanalysesoftherelationshipbetweenPacificMeridionalMode(PMM)andnumberoftropicalcyclones(TCs)activityoverthewesternNorthPacific,theimpactsofthePMMonTcactivityoverthewesternNorthPacificarestudiedusingnumericalsimulationswithanAtmosphericGeneralCirculationModel(CAM3)ofNationalCenterforAtmosphericResearch(ofUSA).TheresultshowsthatthePMMhasimpactsonthelarge-scalegeneratingenvironmentofTCs,thusaffectingtheirnumberandstrength.ThenumericalsimulationsusingtheNCARCAM3indicatethatwiththeinclusionoftheforcingfromseasurfacetemperature(SST)ofthePMM,thereappearsadecreasedmagnitudeoftheverticalzonalwindshear,largeproportionofrelativehumidity,anomalouswesterlywindatlowlevelsandanomalouseasterlywindathighlevels,inassociationwithanomalouscycloniccirculationatlowlevelsandanomalousanti-cycloniccirculationathighlevelsoverthetropicalwesternPacific.Thus,thePMMprovidesfavorableenvironmentforthetyphoongenesis.Inthesensitivityexperiment,TCshavelargerstrength,lowerSSTatthecenter,strongertangentialwindat850hPaandintensifiedwarmcoresathighlevels.Inthispaper,thesimulationresultsaresimilartothatinthedataanalyses,whichrevealstheimportantimpactofthePMMonTCactivityoverthewesternNorthPacific.

  • 简介:Accordingtofieldinvestigationandinterpretationofremotesensingimages,thenorthsegmentoftheLongling-RuilifaultisaHolocenedextralstrike-slipfaultwithasmallamountofnormalfaulting.Basedonlarge-scalegeologicalmappingatsometypicallocationsandquantitativegeomorphologicdeformationmeasurementanddatinganalysis,thisfaultisaHoloceneactivefault.Thestrike-sliprateoftheLongling-Ruilifaultis2.2~2.5mm/aandverticalsliprateis0.6mm/asincethelatePleistoceneepoch.Thestrike-sliprateoftheLongling-Ruilifaultis1.8~3.0mm/aandverticalsliprateis0.5mm/asincetheHoloceneepoch.BasedonthePoissonmodel,lognormalmodelandBPTmodel,theoccurrenceprobabilityofstrongearthquakesin50yearsisestimatedtobe6.32%,0.08%and0.05%,respectively.Then,a1.82%probabilityofoccurrenceofcharacteristicearthquakeforthenorthsegmentoftheLongling-Ruilifaultisobtainedbysettingaweightof0.28,0.36and0.36tothePoissonmodel,lognormalmodelandBPTmodel,respectively.

  • 简介:ThefaultzonealongthenorthernmarginofWestQinlingRangeisamajoractivefaultzoneinthekeyseismicmonitoringareainthesoutheasternpartofGansuProvince.Inordertostudythecurrentactivitycharacteristicsofthisfault,GPSmonitoringnetworkhasbeenarrangedalongbothsidesofthefaultand3measurementshavebeenmadefrom1996to1998.Theresultindicatesthatobviousdifferentialmovementexistsalongthenorthandsouthsidesofthefaultandtheeastwardmovementonthesouthsideis3.8mm/alargerthanthatonthenorthside.IntheGPSnetwork,theshortenedsideisgenerallyinthetrendofEWandtheextendedsideisbasicallyNWtoSE.TheprincipalcompressionalstresstrendinthisareaisaboutEWandthesinistralmotionisobviousintheeasternpartofthefault(nearWushan).Themeasuredresultsalsoindicatethatthedisplacementratehasdecreasedby50%andthecompressionalstrainhasincreasedby100%ascomparedthedataof1997~1998withthoseof1996~1997,whichshowst

  • 简介:Thispaperintroducesthegeologicalstructurebackgroundaroundthe2014YutianM_S7.3earthquakearea,investigatesandanalyzestheregimeofsmallearthquakeactivityandthecharacteristicsofregionalseismicitypatterninXinjiangbeforetheearthquake,andcomparesthecharacteristicsoftheregionalseismicactivitywiththe2008YutianM_S7.3earthquake.Theresultsshow:12~3yearsbeforethe2014YutianM_S7.3earthquake,Xinjiangwasinaseismicactivestatewithstrongearthquakeoccurringsuccessively,andbeforethe2008M_S7.3earthquake,Xinjiangwasinthequietstateofmoderate-smallearthquakeswithM3.0~4.0.2BeforethisYutianM_S7.3earthquake,theregionalseismicactivityshowedashort-termanomalyfeature,thatis,seismicityofM≥5.0earthquakessignificantlyincreasedontheAltunseismiczoneandinthesourceareathreeyearsbeforetheM_S7.3earthquake,whileafiveyearlongquiescenceofseismicityofM≥4.0earthquakesappearedontheeastofthesourceareainarangeofabout440km.SixmonthsbeforethisM7.3earthquake,thereexistedseismicgapofM3.0~4.0earthquakesandnear-conjugateseismicbeltmagnitude3.0and4.0inthesourcearea.3ThestateofstrongearthquakeactivityandtheseismicitypatternofsmallearthquakesbeforethisYutianM_S7.3earthquakeweresignificantlydifferenttothatbeforethe2008YutianM_S7.3earthquake,andthismayberelatedtothedifferentseismogenicenvironmentsofthetwoM_S7.3earthquakes.

  • 简介:Twoaspectsofanewmethod,whichcanbeusedforseismiczoning,areintroducedinthispaper.Ontheonehand,theapproachtoestimatebvalueandannualactivityrateproposedbyKijkoandSellevollneedstousetheearthquakecatalogue.Theexistingearthquakecataloguecontainsbothhistoricalandrecentinstrumentaldatasetsanditisinadequatetouseonlyonepart.Combiningthelargenumberofhistoricaleventswithrecentcompleterecordsandtakingthemagnitudeuncertaintyintoaccount,Kijko’smethodgivesthemaximumlikelihoodestimationofbvalueandannualactivityrate,whichmightbemorerealistic.Ontheotherhand,thismethodconsidersthesourcezoneboundaryuncertaintyinseismichazardanalysis,whichmeanstheearthquakeactivityrateacrossaboundaryofasourcezonechangessmoothlyinsteadofabruptlyandavoidstoolargeagradientinthecalculatedresults.

  • 简介:Inordertoevaluatetheinvolvementofthethyroidglandinreproduction,thyroidfunc-tioningwasdescribedinfemalecultivatedJapaneseeel(Anguillajaponica)inprogressivestagesofsex-ualmaturationinducedbychumsalmonpituitaryhomogenate(SPH)treatment.Serumthyroidhor-mones,thyroxine(T4)andtriiodothyronine(T3)werealsomeasuredineachstage.Thyroidglandac-tivity(epithelialcellheight)washighbeforeSPHinjection(previtellogenicstage),furtherincreasingattheearlyvitellogenicstage,thereafterdecreasingtolatevitellogenicandmigratorynucleusstages.TheprofilesofbothT3andT4changedduringvitellogenesis,beinghighduringprevitellogenicandearlyvitellogenicstages,andsubsequentlydeclining,thusmimickingthyroidglandactivity.Theseresultssuggestthatthethyroidhasrelationwitheelovariandevelopmentduringartificialmaturation.

  • 简介:BycomputingandclassifyingthedataofgullyoffsetobtainedfromfieldsurveysalongtheTianjingshanfaultzoneandestimatingtheagesofthreetypesofgullies,thestrike-slipratesalongthefaultzonearediscussedindifferenttimeintervalsandfaultsegments.Theresultssuggestthattheintensityofactivityalongthefaultzoneisnotstrong,butthedifferencesbetweendifferenttimeintervalsandfaultsegmentssincethelatePleistocenehavebeenobvious.Theaverageratesrangefrom0.23mm/ato1.62mm/a.Thelargestaveragerateis1.40mm/a,whichoccurredintheearlyandmiddleoflatePleistocenealongthewesternsegmentofthefaultzone.SincethelatestageofthelatePleistocene,thecenteroffaultingactivityofthefaultzonehasshiftedtothemiddlesegment,andtheaverageslipratesrangehavechangedfrom1.30mm/ato1.63mm/a.

  • 简介:Theimpactofstrong(weak)intraseasonaloscillation(ISO)overSouthChinaSea(SCS)andSouthAsia(SA)insummerontheSCSandSAsummermonsoonandthesummerrainfallinEasternChinaarestudiedbyusingtheNCEP-NCARanalysisdataandtherainfalldataof160stationsinChinafrom1961to2010.Itisfoundthattheimpactsaresignificantlydifferentindifferentmonthsofsummer.ThestudyshowsthatinJuneandJulycyclonic(anticyclonic)atmosphericcirculationoverSCSandSAcorrespondstostrong(weak)ISOoverSCS.InAugust,however,strong(weak)ISOoverSCSstillcorrespondstocyclonic(anticyclonic)atmosphericcirculationoverSA.InJuneandAugustcyclonic(anticyclonic)atmosphericcirculationoverSouthAsiacorrespondstostrong(weak)ISOoverSAwhileastrong(weak)ISOcorrespondstoanticyclonic(cyclonic)atmosphericcirculationoverSAinJuly.Besides,inJunethestrong(weak)ISOoverSAcorrespondstocyclonic(anticyclonic)atmosphericcirculationoverSCS,whileinJulyandAugusttheatmosphericcirculationisinthesamephaseregardlessofwhethertheISOoverSAisstrongorweak.Theimpactsofthestrong(weak)ISOoverSCSontherainfallofeasternChinaaresimilarinJuneandJuly,whichfavorsless(more)rainfallinYangtze-HuaiheRiversbasinbutsufficient(deficient)rainfallinthesouthofYangtzeRiver.However,theimpactsarenotsoapparentinAugust.InSouthAsia,thestrong(weak)ISOinJulyresultsinless(more)rainfallinthesouthofYangtzeRiverbutsufficient(deficient)rainfallinYangtze-HuaiheRiversbasin.TheinfluenceontherainfallineasternChinainJuneandAugustisnotassignificantasinJuly.
