摘要
·Glaucomaisoneoftheleadingcausesofvisualimpairmentandblindnessworldwide.Ofknownriskfactorsforglaucoma,anincreasedinintraocularpressureismosthighlycorrelatedwithglaucomatousdamage.Irrespectiveofthecause,apoptosisoftheretinalganglioncellsistheeventualoutcome.Itiswidelyacceptedthatglaucomaisaneurodegenerativediseasethatisstronglycorrelatedwithcentralnervoussystemdisorders,suchasAlzheimer’sdisease.Thesetwodisordersalsosharesomesimilaritiesinpathogenicmechanisms.Recentstudiessuggestthatthetransientreceptorpotentialcanonical6channelcouldworktogetherwithbrain-derivedneurotrophicfactortopromoteneuronsurvivalinbrainandretina.Inthisstudy,weproposethattransientreceptorpotentialcanonical6maycontributetothepathogenesisofhumanglaucomaandbecomeapotentialtherapeutictarget.
