TheMinistryofEnergyhasworkedoutaplantolaunch60large-andmedium-sizedhydropowerprojectsbetween1991and2000,withatotaldesignedcapacityof70GW.Alsotheconstructionofsome8GWcapacityofsmallhydropowerstationswillstartduringthesameperiod.Fortheplannedlarge-andmedium-sizedprojects,prioritywillbegiventothoseontheupperandmiddlereachesoftheYellowRiver,themaincourseandtributariesoftheYangtzeRiver,theHongshuiRiverandtheLancangjiangRiver.
