摘要 Anacceleratedmicro-foilisusedtoigniteapre-compressedcylindricalshellcontainingdeuterium–tritiumfuel.Thewell-knownshockwaveignitioncriterionandanovelcriterionbasedonheatwaveignitionaredevelopedinthiswork.Itisshownthatforheatignitionveryhighimpactvelocitiesarerequired.Itissuggestedthatamulti-petawattlasercanaccelerateamicro-foiltorelativisticvelocitiesinaveryshorttimeduration(picosecond)ofthelaserpulse.Thecylindricalgeometrysuggestedhereforthefastignitionapproachhastheadvantageofgeometricallyseparatingthenanosecondlasersthatcompressthetargetfromthepicosecondlaserthatacceleratesthefoil.Thepresentmodelsuggeststhatnuclearfusionbymicro-foilimpactignitioncouldbeattainedwithcurrentlyexistingtechnology.
