Inthesymplecticspacecomposedoftheoriginalvariables,displacements,andtheirdualvariables,stresses,thesymplecticsolutionforthecompositelaminatesbasedonthePipes-Paganomodelisestablishedinthispaper.Incontrasttothetraditionaltechniqueusingonlyonekindofvariables,thesymplecticdualvariablesincludedisplacementcomponentsaswellasstresscomponents.Therefore,thecompatibilityconditionsofdisplacementandstressatinterfacescanbeformulatedsimultaneously.Afterbeingintroducedintothesymplecticdualsystem,theuniformschemes,suchastheseparationofvariablesandsymplecticeigenfunctionexpansionmethod,canbeimplementedconvenientlytoanalyzecompositelaminateproblems.Ananalyticalsolutionforthefreeedgeeffectofcompositelaminatesisobtained,showingtheeffectivenessofthesymplecticdualmethodinanalyzingcompositelaminates.
