Thispaperexplains,withconcreteexamples,thatthenon-verbalbarriersalsoobstructstudents’correctunderstandingoflisteningmaterials,andana-lyzestheproblemsresultingfromstudentslackofcul-turalknowledgeofthetargetlanguage.Suggestionsareofferedtohelpstudentshaveabetterunderstand-ingbyintroducingtheoriginofEnglishwords,intro-ducingtheculturaltraitsofnativespeakers,theircustomsandintroducetherelativeculturalknowledgetopromotestudents’comprehensionofthetargetlan-guage.
