Theprocess-faciestypesoftheDevonianvolcanicsedimentarysuccessionsinnorthernXinjiangincludeexplosivefacies,effusivefacies,pyroclastic-calcareous-terrigenoustempestitefacies,andcoarse~-,medium~-andfine-grainedpyroclasticturbiditefacies,volcaniceruptiontsunamitefacies,syndepositionalandsoft-deformedseismitefacies,sandyandsilt-muddycontouritefacies.Thispaperpresentstheircharacteristicsanddiagnosticindicators,anddiscussesthetemporalandspatialstructuresofboththeprocess-faciesandtheenvironment-faciesoftheZhifangsection,eastJunggar,andtheMountSarburtisection,westJunggar,andtheirrelationtoplatetectonism.Theauthorholdsthatthefaciesanalysisdominatedbyprocess-faciesisthefaciesanalysis’nucleusinanorogenicbeltandactivecontinentalmargin.
