Thispaperaimsatdevelopingastochastic-elasticmodelofasoftelasticbodyadheringonawavysurfaceviaapatchofmolecularbonds.Theelasticdeformationofthesystemismodeledbyusingcontinuumcontactmechanics,whilethestochasticbehaviorofadhesivebondsismodeledbyusingBell'stypeofexponentialbondassociation/dissociationrates.Itisfoundthatforsufficientlysmalladhesionpatchsizeorstressconcentrationindex,theadhesionstrengthisinsensitivetothewavelengthbutdecreaseswiththeamplitudeofsurfaceundulation,andthatforlargeadhesionpatchsizeorstressconcentrationindex,thereexistoptimalvaluesofthesurfacewavelengthandamplitudeformaximumadhesionstrength.
