Sheetmetalformingiswidelyappliedtoautomobile,aviation,spaceflight,ship,instrument,andapplianceindustries.Inthispaper,basedonanalyzingtheshortcomingofgeneralfiniteelementanalysis(FEA),theconceptionofparametricfiniteelementanalysis(PFEA)ispresented.Theparametricfiniteelementanalysis,artificialneuralnetworks(ANN)andgeneticalgorithm(GA)arecombinedtoresearchthoroughlyontheproblemsofprocessparametersoptimizationofsheetmetalforming.Theauthorprogramstheoptimizationschemeandappliesitinaresearchofoptimizationproblemofinsidesquareholeflangingtechnologicalparameters.Theoptimizationresultcoincideswellwiththeresultofexperiment.Theresearchshowsthattheoptimizationschemeoffersagoodnewwayindiedesignandsheetmetalformingfield.
