BaoshanIron&SteelCo.,Ltd.,(referredtoasBaosteel)inChinafirstsucceededindevelopingtheU-ing-O-ing-Expanding(UOE)longitudinalsubmergedarcweldedpipes(SAWLs)offshorelinepipeofamaximumthickness/outsidediameter(T/D)0.042in2011.DescribedinthispaperistheresearchanddevelopmentoftheX70UOESAWLpipesbythecompany.TheresultshowsthatthesaidX70linepipehasbeenincompliancewithrelevantrequirementsasspecifiedinSpecificationsDNV-OS-F101,andhasbeensuccessfullyusedintheSouthChinaSeadeepwatergaspipelineproject.
