3D Diffraction of obliquely incident SH waves by twin infinitely long cylindrical cavities in layered poroelastic half-space

Thispaperstudiesthree-dimensionaldiffractionofobliquelyincidentplaneSHwavesbytwininfinitelylongcylindricalcavitiesinlayeredporoelastichalf-spaceusingindirectboundaryelementmethod.Theapproachisvalidatedbycomparisonwiththeliterature,andtheeffectsofcavityinterval,incidentfrequency,andboundarydrainageconditiononthediffractionarestudiedthroughnumericalexamples.Itisshownthat,theinteractionbetweentwocavitiesissignificantandsurfacedisplacementpeaksbecomelargewhentwocavitiesareclose,andthesurfacedisplacementmaybesignificantlyamplifiedbytwincavities,andtheinfluencerangewithlargeamplificationcanbeaswideas40timesofthecavityradius.Surfacedisplacementsindryporoelasticcaseandsaturatedporoelasticcaseswithdrainedandundrainedboundariesareevidentlydifferentundercertaincircumstances,andthedifferencesmaybemuchlargerthanthoseinthefree-fieldresponse.
