Inthispaper,afacialfeatureextractingmethodisproposedtotransformthree-dimension(3D)headimagesofinfantswithdeformationalplagiocephalyforassessmentofasymmetry.Thefeaturesof3Dpointcloudsofaninfant’scraniumcanbeidentifiedbylocalfeatureanalysisandatwo-phasek-meansclassificationalgorithm.The3Dimagesofinfantswithasymmetriccraniumcanthenbealignedtothesamepose.Themirroredheadmodelobtainedfromthesymmetryplaneiscomparedwiththeoriginalmodelforthemeasurementofasymmetry.Numericaldataofthecranialvolumecanbereviewedbyapediatriciantoadjustthetreatmentplan.Thesystemcanalsobeusedtodemonstratethetreatmentprogress.
