Tounveilthecharacteristicsandavailablepropagationmechanismofcoaxial-typemicrowaveexcitedline-shapeplasma,theeffectsofparametersincludingmicrowavepower,workingpressure,dielectricconstant,andexternalmagneticfieldontheplasmadistributionwerenumericallyinvestigatedbysolvingacoupledsystemofMaxwell’sequationsandcontinuityequations.Numericalresultsindicatethathighmicrowavepower,relativelyhighworkingpressure,lowdielectricconstant,andshapedmagneticfieldprofileswillhelpproduceahigh-densityanduniformplasmasource.Excitingbothendsbymicrowavecontributedtothehigh-densityanduniformplasmasourceaswell.Possiblemechanismswereanalyzedbyusingthepolarizationmodeloflowtemperatureplasma.Thegenerationandpropagationprocessesoftheline-shapeplasmamainlydependontheinteractionofthreeaspects,i.e.thetransmittedpart,penetrationpartandabsorptivepartoftheelectromagneticfield.Thenumericalresultswerequalitativelyconsistentwithavailableexperimentalresultsfromliterature.Moreelaboratedescriptionsofthethreeaspectsandcorrespondinginteractionsamongthemneedtobeinvestigatedfurthertoimprovethepropertiesoftheline-shapeplasma.
