AccordingtothedataoftheChineseLongitudinalHealthyLongevitySurvey(CLHLS)andapplyingmethodsofSullivanandmultistatelifetable,thispaperexaminesthetimeexpectancyofcarefordailylivingofChineseelderlyanditsproportionintheirelderlylife.Theresultsfindthatthereexistsasignificantgendergapoftheexpectancy,whichthemaleat65averagelyareexpectedtohavefourtofivecareyearswhilethefemaleat65averagelyareexpectedtohaveseventoeightcareyears.Thetimeexpectancyforslightcareofdailylivingislongerthanthatforsevercare.Additionally,thereisnosignificantdifferencebetweenurbanelderlyandruralelderly.However,asageincreases,thetimeexpectancyforslightcaregoesdownwhilethatforsevercarestabilitiesataconstantatdifferentages.Thetimeexpectancyfordifferenttypesofcareanditsproportionintherestoflifearesignificantlyvarious.Thestudypointsoutthattheestablishmentandimprovementofcareinsurancesystemandtheelderlycareserviceareverynecessary.
