Asmid-infrared(MIR)lasersshownumerousapplicationsinthefieldofdefense,medical,materialsprocessing,andopticalcommunications.InvestigationonMIRRamanfiberlasers(RFLs)increasinglybecomesahottopic.Comparedwiththetraditionalsilicafibers,fluorideandchalcogenideglassfiberspossesshighernonlinearcoefficientsandexcellentMIRtransmittances.Inthisarticle,thelatestdevelopmentsoftheMIRRFLsusingfluorideandchalcogenideglassfibersasgainmediaareintroduced,respectively.ThisreviewarticlemainlyfocusesonthedevelopmentsofMIRRFLsinaspectsofoutputwavelength,outputpower,andopticalefficiency.Besides,theprospectofMIRRFLsisalsodiscussed.
