Thepapergivesanoverviewontheneedforsmartcouplingforbatterymanagementingridintegratedrenewableenergysystem(RES).Gridintegratedphotovoltaic(PV)batterysystem,asbeingpopularandextensivelyusedhasbeendiscussedinthepaper.SmartcouplingreferstointelligentgridintegrationsuchthatitcanforeseelocalnetworkconditionsandissuebatterypowerflowmanagementstrategyaccordinglytoshavethepeakPVandpeakload.Therefore,aneedforpredictiveenergymanagementarisesforsmartintegrationtothegridandsupervisionofthepowerflowinaccordancetothegridconditions.ThisisalsoarunningprojectattheInstituteofEnergySystems(INES),OffenburgUniversityofAppliedScience,GermanysinceJanuary,2015.Thepapershouldprovideinsightstothemotivation,needandgivesanoutlooktothefeaturesofdesiredpredictiveenergymanagementsystem(PEMS).
