Thisreviewaimsatevaluatingtheexistingevidenceregardingpostreperfusionsyndrome,providingadescriptionofthepathophysiologicmechanismsinvolvedandpossiblemanagementandpreventivestrategies.APubMedsearchwasconductedusingtheMeSHdatabase,＂Reperfusion＂AND＂livertransplantation＂werethecombinedMeSHheadings;EMBASEandtheCochranelibrarywerealsosearchedusingthesameterms.52relevantstudiesandoneongoingtrialwerefound.Theconceptofpostreperfusionsyndromehasevolvedthroughyearstoamultisystemicdisorder.Theimplicationsofthemainorgan,recipientandprocedurerelatedfactorsinthegenesisofthiscomplexsyndromearediscussedinthetextasthenovelpharmacologicandtechnicalapproachestoreduceitsincidence.Howevertheavailableevidenceaboutriskfactors,physiopathologyandpreventivemeasuresisstillconfusing,thepresenceoftwomaindefinitionsandthenumerosityofpossibleconfoundingfactorsgreatlycomplicatestheinterpretationofthestudies.
