Thispaperpresentsananalysisoftheactivecontrolofrandomvibrationforlaminatedcompositeplatesusingpiezoelectricfiberreinforcedcomposites(PFRC).WithHamilton’sprincipleandtheRayleigh-Ritzmethod,theequationofmotionfortheresultingelectromechanicalcouplingsystemisderived.Avelocityfeedbackcontrolruleisemployedtoobtainaneffectiveactivedampinginthesuppressionofrandomvibration.Thepowerspectraldensityandmeansquaredisplacementsoftherandomvibrationforlaminatedplatesunderdifferentcontrolgainsaresimulatedandthevalidityofthepresentcontrolstrategyisconfirmed.TheeffectofpiezoelectricfiberorientationinthePFRClayerontherandomvibrationsuppressionisalsoinvestigated.Theanalyticalmethodologycanbeexpandedtootherkindsofrandomvibration.
