TheZnOquantumdots(QDs)weresynthesizedwithimprovedchemicalsolutionmethod.ThesizeoftheZnOQDsisexceedinglyuniformwithadiameterofapproximately4.8nm,whicharehomogeneouslydispersedinethanol.Theopticalabsorptionedgeshiftsfrom370nmofbulkmaterialto359nmofQDmaterialsduetothequantumsizeeffect,whilethephotoluminescencepeakshiftsfrom375nmto387nmwiththeincreaseofthedensityofZnOQDs.ThestabilityofZnOQDswasstudiedwithdifferentdispersiondegreesat0?Candatroomtemperatureof25?C.Theagglomerationmechanismsandtheirrelationshipwiththeemissionspectrawereuncoveredforthefirsttime.WiththeageingofZnOQDs,theagglomerationisaggravatedandthesurfacedefectsincrease,whichleadstothedefectemission.
