ThisstudyproposesaGreen’sfunction,anessentialrepresentationofwater-saturatedgroundundermovingexcitation,tosimulategroundbornevibrationfromtrains.First,generalsolutionstothegoverningequationsofporoelasticmediumarederivedbymeansofintegraltransform.Secondly,thetransmissionandreflectionmatrixapproachisusedtoformulatetherelationshipbetweendisplacementandstressofthestratifiedground,whichresultsinthematrixoftheGreen’sfunction.ThentheGreen’sfunctioniscombinedintoatrain-track-groundmodel,andisverifiedbytypicalexamplesandafieldtest.Additionalsimulationsshowthatthecomputedgroundvibrationattenuatesfasterintheimmediatevicinityofthetrackthaninthesurroundingarea.Thewavelengthofwheel-railunevennesshasanotableeffectoncomputeddisplacementandporepressure.Thevariationofvibrationintensitywiththedepthofgroundissignificantlyinfluencedbythelayeringofthestratasoil.WhenthetrainspeedisequaltothevelocityoftheRayleighwave,theMachconeappearsinthesimulatedwavefield.TheproposedGreen’sfunctionisanappropriaterepresentationforalayeredgroundwithshallowgroundwatertable,andwillbehelpfultounderstandthedynamicresponsesofthegroundtocomplicatedmovingexcitation.
