ThispaperdescribestheuseoftheArc/InfoandArcViewGIStoolstoestimatesoilerosionwithUniversalSoilLossEquation(USLE).Calculationsarebedonebyusingcapabilitiesavailable.Thisstudystartwithadigitalelevationmodel(DEM)ofShaanxi,whichwascreatedbydigitizingcontourandspotheightsfromthetopographicmapon1∶250000scaleandgridthemesfortheUSLEKandCfactors.ItisnoteworthythatUSLEKcanbeobtainedbyaddingtheKfactorasanattributetoasoiltheme'stable.TheCcanbeobtainedfromtablesorusingtheinformationaboutlanduseandmanagementgivenbyUSLEprogram.AlandusethemecanbeusedtoaddtheCfactorsasanattributefield.ThepurposeofthisstudyistoestablishspatialinformationofsoilerosionusingUSLEandGISanddiscusstheanalysisofthesoilerosionandslopefailuresinGISandformulatethepossibleframework.
