Thispaperpresentsanovelmethodforoverlappingortouchingblobobject(particles)segmentation.Itisbasedonthewatershedtransformation,oneofthemostpowerfulimageanalysistoolsprovidedbymathematicalmorphology,Inthismethod.wefirstbuildthedistancefunictionoftheblobimage,andthenextracttheregionalminimaasmarkers,andfinallythewatershedtransformationisperformed.Theapplicationsofthisalgorithmillustratedusingexamplesofredbloodcellsegmentationandbrokenmedicinepilldetection.
