Heartfailureisacomplexclinicalsyndromethatcanresultfromanystructuralorfunctionalcardiacdisorderthatimpairstheabilityoftheventricletofillwithorejectblood.Theechocardiogramisthesinglemostperformedandusefulstudyinthesepatients.Thisarticlereviewstheroleoftheechocardiogramintheevaluationoftheheartfailurepatient,withoutfocusingontheleftventricle.Thediscussionincludestheuseoftheechocardiogramintheassessmentoftherightventricleanddiastolicfunctionandindetectinghemodynamicandmorphologicchangesinheartfailureoveraperiodoftime.Inaddition,wehighlightsomeofthelimitationsofechocardiographyintheassessmentofthesepatients.
