Performance-basedseismicdesign(PBSD)aimstoassessstructuresatdifferentdamagestates.Sincedamagecanbedirectlyassociatedtodisplacements,seismicdesignwithconsiderationofdisplacementseemstobelogical.Inthisstudy,simpleformulaetoestimatethepeakfloordisplacementpatternsofeccentricallybracedframes(EBFs)atdifferentperformancelevelssubjectedtoearthquakegroundmotionsareproposed.TheseformulaeareapplicableinaPBSDandespeciallyindirectdisplacement-baseddesign(DDBD).Parametricstudyisconductedonagroupof30EBFsunderasetof15farfieldandnearfieldaccelerogramswhichtheyscaledtodifferentamplitudestoadaptvariousperformancelevels.TheresultsofthousandsofnonlineardynamicanalysesofEBFshavebeenpost-processedbynonlinearregressionanalysisinordertorecognizethemajorparametersthatinfluencethepeakdisplacementpatternoftheseframes.Resultsshowthatsuggesteddisplacementpatternshaverelativelygoodagreementwiththoseacquiredbyanexactnonlineardynamicanalysis.
