Anultrasensitivemetamaterialsensorbasedondouble-slotverticalsplitringresonators(DVSRRs)isdesignedandnumericallycalculatedintheterahertzfrequency.ThisDVSRRdesignproducesafundamentLCresonancewithaqualityfactorofabout20whentheincidencemagneticfieldcomponentnormaltotheDVSRRarray.TheresonantcharacteristicsandsensingperformanceoftheDVSRRarraydesignaresystematicallyanalyzedemployingacontrastmethodamongthreesimilarverticalsplitringresonator(SRRs)structures.Theresearchresultsshowthattheeliminationofbianisotropy,inducedbythestructuralsymmetryoftheDVSRRdesign,helpstoachieveLCresonanceofahighqualityfactor.LiftingtheSRRsupfromthesubstratesharplyreducesthedielectriclossintroducedbythesubstrate.AllthesefactorsjointlyresultinsuperiorsensitivityoftheDVSRRtotheattributesofanalytes.Themaximumrefractiveindexsensitivityis788GHz/RIUor1.04×10~5nm∕RIU.Also,theDVSRRsensormaintainsitssuperiorsensingperformanceforfabricationtolerancerangingfrom-4%to4%andwiderangeincidenceanglesupto50°underbothTEandTMilluminations.
