AfieldexperimentwasconductedtostudytheeffectsofPb,Cd,Cu,ZnandAscoexistinginredsoilongrowthofrice(OryzasativaL.)mungbean(Vignarabiata(Linn.)Wilczek),alfalfa(MedicagosativaL.),Slashpine(PinuselliottiiEngelm.)andaspen(PopulusL.).Resultsshowedthatrice,mungbeanandalfalfaweresignificantlyinfluencedbycombinedpoollutionoftheheavymetals,thecontentsofPb,CdandAsinricegrainsgreatlyexceededtheNationalStandardsforFoodHygieneofChina.Heavymetalsatahighconcentrationseriouslyretardedgrowthofmungbeanandalfalfa,butnotsoobviouslywithslashpineandaspen.Thecompositeindexissuggestedforevaluatingtherelativityofcombinedpollutionwithheavymetalsinsoil.
