Usingtheextremedifferenceofself-similarityandkurtosisatlargelevelscaleofwavelettransformapproximationbetweenthePTFM(PulseTrainsofFrequencyModulated)signalsanditsreverberation,afeature-basedmatchedfiltermethodusingtheclassify-before-detectparagriamisproposedtoimprovethedetectionperformanceinreverberationandmultipathenvironments.Processingthedataoflake-trailsshowedthattheprocessinggainoftheproposedmethodisbiggerthanthatofmatchedfilterabout10dB.Inmultipathenvironments,detectionperformanceofmatchedfilterbecomebadlypoorer,whilethatoftheproposedmethodisimprovedbetter.Itshowsthatthemethodismuchmorerobustwiththeeffectofmultipath.
