Theoreticalandexperimentalresearchoflowfrequencypulsecompressionandchannelmatchinshallowwatersoundchannelwerecarriedoutbasedon2000-WinterYellowSeaexperiment.Usingpulsecompressionmethod,signalswithhighsignaltonoiseratio(SNR)werereceivedoverrangeof110kilometersintheexperiment.TheSNRgainintheprocessisconsistentwiththetheoreticalprediction.Theexperimentalmeasurementindicatedthatthechannelishighlycoherentoveralengthof500s.ChannelmatchmethodwasusedtocompensatethedegradationofpulsecompressionSNRcausedbythemulti-pathpropagation.AndtheSNRgaininthechannelmatchprocesscanbetheoreticallypredicted.ExperimentalresultsshowthatlowfrequencypulsecompressionandchannelmatchmethodcanbeusedinshallowwatersoundchanneltoimprovetheSNR.
